Wold Bill Hickok (1837-1876) - American frontier scout and famed lawman of the West. Hickok liked to gamble at cards and while playing in a poker game, he was shot in the back by Mack McCall, on August 2, 1876. Wild Bill was holding Aces and Eights when he was shot, forever called the "Dead Man's Hand".
Calamity Jane (1852-1903) was the nickname of Martha Jane Canary, a famous American frontierswoman. She was an expert with horse and rifle and served as a scout for general George Custer. She was in Deadwood during the time Wild Bill Hickok was shot and killed. Today they lie next to one another in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
